Who Knew Caregiving Would Be In Vogue Right Now?

After all, we’ve been experiencing social distancing for quite some time now.  Of course, we weren’t clever enough to call it this.  I mean, we were too busy being sleep deprived, overwhelmed, and overworked to come up with such clever phrasing.  We just called it what it is for us.  Isolation. You see, caregiving for a loved one is a funny thing.  It doesn’t really matter how much family you have or how many friends you have, either. At the end of the day you’re just too busy and too tired. And, quite frankly, lead too dif...

What Is It About Loss, That Can Either Make Us Or Break Us?…

Mom… Memories of my Mom… There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of you… There is not a day that goes by that I don’t miss you… I lost my biggest Life Coach, Cheerleader, Confidant, Friend and Mentor… to what now seems like a life time ago… And my heart will never be completely full again… I am a lucky woman, however, to have been taught by you, that life can be wonderful, no...

What Does It Take To Make Your Dreams Come True?…

Now, I’m no expert on the subject… But this much I know to be true… Everyone’s Scared. Life takes us for quite a ride.  One minute you’re flying high and the next you are hit by a bus.  For some that can even be literal!  What a rollercoaster! I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately.  How one minute you can be on top of the world and the next, you’re just not!  How we can plan and plan and then the opposite sometimes happens. And what about t...

Six Decades and Counting

I sit here wondering where all the time went… At what point, did my kids get older in actual age, then what  I resonate to be my own age, in my mind?   Have you ever felt this way, too?  Time, is greatly misunderstood by me… I truly have no concept of it’s fleeting… Most of my days are surrounded in the mundane and I rarely notice how one day passes into the next. It seems we are all granted a certain amount of time on this earth.  We see things, lea...

10 Reasons Every Caregiver Should Consider starting A Network Marketing Business

A Powerful Team who uplift and serve… As a Caregiver for over 24 years now, I truly never dreamed I could help with the family finances! Let’s face it, Caregiving is a NEVER ENDING, all consuming, exhausting job… But then I learned this… 1.) You can work from home Now, that may or may not sound good to you! (Haha!) But, consider all the times you have to call out for illness, doctor appointments, therapy appointments, caregiver callouts and the list never ends… Or, maybe, like me, the above is why you can’t have a job in the first place! 2.) You can make your own ...

What Do You Choose When Your Prayers Seem Unanswered?

Saying good-bye… I’ve been a Caregiver for 24 years and counting and this morning, just as I was expecting his nurse to walk through the door, I get a text message that she will not be coming… Now, this was not a huge shock by any means, as out of the 3 nurses that we are lucky enough to have in our lives, they have collectively canceled out of their shifts 13 times since Jan. 1! Which in and of itself is difficult but add to the fact that 2 1/2 years ago, I decided I wanted to try working again and I question, did I make the right decision...

Why I Love Dana Gorman

As a fellow Warrior Mom, we have a lot in common… and also, not so much. So how did we get connected? Well, it’s kind of a funny story. It started many years ago… late at night, as I often did, I was perusing the internet for any and all information I could find to heal my son! I came across some information about a place called ...

Today I am Sad..

And I think that’s okay. Somedays one just needs to be sad. I have been a caregiver to my son for almost 23 years now. It has not been easy and I would not wish it upon anyone. Doing daily care 24/7 of feedings and diapering and bathing and transporting is a harsh reality. And it’s a minor part played out next to those days of watching your child’s sufferings that you cannot control let alone fix. Yes. Today I will just be sad. It is nice to have some help. Some relief. Some spare moments to do the “regular stuff” of meal prep, and cleaning toilets or simply taking a shower. Yet it comes with its own set of circumstances that I would not wish upon anyone. A stranger i...

What are you Doing to Take Care of YOU?

I think I may know what you’re thinking… Take care of me? I barely have time for a shower, let alone time for any self indulgent care! Me, too! However, there are statistics out there that show the life expectancy for those who have been Caregivers is shortened when their caregiving ends in the death of their loved one. One very public case in point was what happened to Dana Reeves after she lost her husband Christopher Reeves. And I have seen it happen in my own extended family as well. Let’s defy these statistics! As a rule, because I am a caregiver, I don’t make New Years Resolutions anymore. They seem pointless to me. I can make them. Have the best of intentions. But our lives are...

Live Your Life in Service to Others

I’ve tried my very best to do this for the past 21 years, in service to my son and those that came into our very small world. Sharing essential oils has been a blessing that has allowed me to expand my ability to live in service to others exponentially a...

Today is the Day

HAHA! Yup, that was me, 2 years ago, when my daughter asked me to take a trip of a lifetime with her to Moab, Utah. I was scared to do it, but I did it! Are you scared to try something new? Do you have plans/projects/big ideas that are just waiting to be started? Why not start them today? What’s holding you back? Do you have one excuse after the other? Me too! But let’s begin anyway!   Today. Today is the day. The start of my blog and my new Facebook business page, found here:  At Home Oils   It’s a new beginning! Yes, I’m as scared as I was that day, but I’m also just as excited! Excited for change, for new experiences, for new friendships. Le...

My Love Affair Began

When I was growing up, money was scarce.  My parents were very savvy shoppers and one of their favorite stores was Sears.  They had a very simple slogan.  Good, better, best.  And you really couldn’t go wrong.  For example, if you needed a new refrigerator, you had three choices.  They all worked, it was just a matter of choosing which you could afford in order to get to optimal. Over the years, I’ve found this slogan to be true with a variety of things I’ve tried in order to help my special needs son.  When he was about 3 or 4 years old we learned about a wonderful place calle...
